It's the worst federally subsidized government program out there. It's corrupt, useless and doesn't help anyone really.  The leasing company owners are grifters pretingbon their tenants and the free cash that comes with it. The housing authority encourages drug addict to live and retain housing in the suburbs. It's the worst federally funded program that has no oversight, and grifts off taxpayers and disabled and senior tenants that only want to survive and live somewhere safe and quiet without drugs and riff raff. Any complaints to the housing authority are often ignored and lack any aggressive enforcement action. Like removal of repeated indoor smoking activity by tenants that the landlord and leasing company brush off as " normal" of any similar properties. Cook County has a drug problem and they don't respect or do much about enforcing the no smoking policies. It's all just talking points and looking good for HUD to retain their partner contracts with them. My advice is avoid any housing authority, and work with the landlord and their program is much better. The housing authority is a scheme the government should abolish since the programs are abused and shady and rampant with corruption and dishonest employees and mismanaged.
